2017 Christmas Letter
Hello Family & Friends,
This year I thought I’d share a little bit of ourselves with you. We’ve had a very fruitful and uplifting year that I could not help myself but put into these few words for you.
First, let me tell you what my husband, Baltazar, has started. With a lot of dedication and discipline he has become a vegan. Yup. A vegan. That means no meats, no dairy products, no reason to stop at a fast food or any other type of restaurant. And he’s taken it with great stride without regret. He exercises every day. And I can tell you all, that he is feeling and looking awesome. I haven’t gotten there yet. I love meats too much … but I have cut down on eating out by 85% (percentage thrown out randomly without any thought).
And talk about dedication, let me share with you how Elysha is doing. She is attending St Edward’s University with a teaching major. She is student teaching at a local middle school. Her straight A’s says a lot. She is on the Dean’s list, is in a book club she loves, she is in too many organizations to list and she’s loving every minute of it. And she’s still working at Wells Fargo, making it her 7th year. We’re so very proud of her and are so excited to share all these experiences with her.
So, this year Matthew has a girlfriend. And let me tell you why I am sharing this with you. I can say so many wonderful things about my child but seeing him share his love with another person is so amazing. He’s the most respectful, caring, thoughtful young man with this one beautiful young lady that I can’t help but feel so proud. Everything he does for this young lady is from the heart. As a mother and a woman, I feel proud that I have done my duty to nurture this young man to be the great guy he is.
Marcus… the lively spirit in our family is doing wonderful this year. He played football for the first time. As an asthmatic, he was never allowed to play so this was a first for all of us. (A first for mommy to let go of the fear, for sure). He also continues to participate in band. He’s playing the baritone, which is not the easiest instrument to handle but he is managing quite well. His creativity is reflected on his ideas and thoughts written on his very private notebook that he carries with him at all times. We’re quite impressed and amazed with his maturity as he is becoming a young man.
So… Bella, she is definitely the firecracker in the family. Strong willed, bold and always our protector, she continues to show great resilient by showing off her barking skills. She will loudly (as in, the neighbors must think she must be vicious) make her preference known. So any time a scrawny four legged Chihuahua walks close to our home… Bella is ready to put the fear in them. Her bark is loud and really scary. J
As for myself, I feel so blessed. I am perfectly happy. I have had a great year of accomplishments. I continue to have my own payroll – bookkeeping business. Which by the way is everything I dreamed it would. Always keeps me busy… always on my toes – it requires constant focus and critical thinking from me but I can humbly tell you that at this very moment, I am exactly where I need to be.
This year we also vacationed in Niagara, Toronto, NYC, New Jersey & Pennsylvania and tasted some of the best and my goodness… mouthwatering foods – Cannolis in NJ, Philly Cheesesteaks in PA, NY Suprema Pizza in NY. I just can’t…. It’s too much.
And finally moving to the final part of this year’s journey (no pun intended), we moved to a new home nestled nicely in Austin. And I’m loving putting this lovely home of mine together. I can tell you, we can’t wait for barbeque season to come around.
It’s all so deliciously good this life we share.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Feliz Navidad y Prospero Ano!
Baltazar, Elizabeth, Elysha, Matthew & Marcus
